I learned a new weather term this week, “Derecho.” I had never heard of a Derecho until one blew through here. It had destructive winds in excess of 80 mph. Trees creaked and snapped then we lost electricity. Once the weather cleared, I grabbed my camera and went out to assess the damage.
We lost a few trees. Two apple trees were badly damaged. Overall we had a lot less to deal with than most of our neighbors. The scariest part of this “Derecho.” was running into this guy here:
What do you do when you go out armed only with a camera? Take a picture, of course. It took me thirty minutes before I could find the nerve to slowly inch myself backwards. This guy never did rattle his buttons nor did he strike. Thank God!
